Simply A Bad Day

10/28/2012

The other day, I had a bad day.  And that is all it was, simply a bad day.  One of my friends and mother in the No Nuts Moms Group of Michigan said this to me and she is so right.

During that day, it felt like one of the worst days and I felt so sad, but once I had time to reflect and the dust settled, I was fine.  I am actually stronger and more determined to keep doing what I have been doing.

I am so thankful for this group because I can turn to all of you during these difficult days and not feel judged for my feelings.  We all may handle situations differently and that is ok.  Never feel bad for protecting your child.  When things are bad, just breathe, let go and keep moving.

We will all continue to encounter ignorant and selfish people and unfortunately, so will our children.  We can try to change their views and that is all we can do.  Some will understand and some will not.  At the end of the day, the only thing that really matters is you and your child's safety and well-being.

So continue to do what you do to protect your children and always hold onto hope that one day we will have a cure and a better understanding of food allergies.

Quote: "I never regret anything. Because every little detail of your life is what made you into who you are in the end."

I recently received my first Savorfull Box.  If you are not familar with Savorfull, the company finds allergy free foods for their customers and delivers them right to your doorstep once a month.  When you purchase a membership with Savorfull, you get coupons, recipes, tips and samples.

When I opened the box, I found a nice note from the Nutritionist CEO and Founder Stacy Goldberg and the Savorfull Team along with helpful food allergy handouts and coupons. In this month’s box, there is a dark chocolate bar from Enjoy Life Foods,  a double chocolate cookie, a pack of sea salt pretzels by an organic company called Mary’s Gone Crackers, a sample pack of Mrs. Glee’s Elbow Macaroni and four sample packs of Vita Perk Coffee.

The Enjoy Life chocolate bar was very good and free of the top eight allergens as well as gluten.  The cookie from Mary’s Gone Crackers was also very yummy and free of  gluten, dairy, wheat, tree nuts and peanuts.  It contains soy and coconut.  I wasn’t a big fan of the sea salt pretzels by Mary’s Gone Crackers.  I haven’t tried the Mrs. Glee's Elbow Macaroni, but it is free of gluten and egg and made with non-GMO corn flower.  I am not a coffee drinker so I will be sharing the Vita Perk coffee samples with a member of the No Nuts Moms Group.  The Vita Perk packs state that they add vitamins and minerals to your coffee.  They also state that they are free of gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, soybeans, dairy, egg, fish, crustacean and wheat.  The four samples packs include; unflavored, vanilla, mocha and hazelnut.

Information about the book "OK 4 ME 2 Eat" was included in this month's Savorfull box.   It looks like a great book for kids with food allergies.  Go to this webstie for more information.
