Bake Station Review (Peanut, Tree-Nut & Dairy Free)

Yesterday was my three year olds first day of preschool, so I decided to take my four year old out for a little peanut and nut free treat since he wasn’t starting school until today.  We headed over to The Bake Station in Southfield, MI, which is about 30 minutes from our house.

When we got there, I was happy to see the Nut Free illuminated sign in the  window.  I want to point out that  this place is a peanut and nut free bakery, but for some reason a lot of places
and manufactures lump the two together and only label peanut or nut free.  I personally think that they should be labeled separately, because they are totally different allergies.  Some kids are allergic to peanuts and not nuts and vice versa. It would just make everyone’s lives so much easier if all places would do this.  Other than that detail, I was pleased with the place.  The  bakery isn’t anything fancy and it has that old school bakery look to it, but they are with the times by having a peanut and nut free establishment. There aren’t any tables or chairs to
enjoy your treat and there are no public restrooms.  There was a wide variety of baked goods ranging from breads, cakes, doughnuts, pastries, brownies and cookies.
My four year old was happy to pick out
cupcakes for himself and his little brother.  They had cupcakes for boys and girls.  My boys are into superheroes so of course he picked the one with Spider Man, Super Man, Thor and Incredible Hulk.  His only complaint was that they didn’t have Batman on the cupcakes. But other than that, I think he was very happy with his selection.

My son wasn’t sure about trying a doughnut
because the last time he tried  one it wasn’t peanut and nut free.  Needless to say, that wasn’t a good experience for him. I assured him that he would like it and that he should
try it.  On the way to our next stop, I allowed my son to eat a doughnut and he enjoyed it. Even though the place is a peanut and nut free bakery, I still found myself looking back at my son making sure an allergic reaction
wasn’t creeping up.  I guess this is out of habit and will most likely never change.
We bought 4 cupcakes and 6 doughnuts for $14.00.  The cupcakes are  large and $2.00 a piece.  The doughnuts are $1.00 a piece.
They also have great birthday cakes for $18.95.

If you are ever in the area then check out Bake Station.  They have two locations and I have listed their information below.  You can also read my review of Bake Station Too here.
